What is the HESI Admission?
HESI A2 is an entrance exam that is used by nursing schools to determine a candidate’s ability to do well in nursing school. Many nursing schools review HESI A2 exam scores from candidates to determine whether they can apply for their nursing school. There are 8 categories inside of the HESI A2 exam but each nursing school uses different categories to judge candidates attrition. Some nursing schools want candidates to be tested in all categories and some nursing schools only require candidates to be tested in 4 categories. We recommend you check with the school you are planning on applying at to find out their requirements.
What is the difference between HESI A2 and ATI TEAS?
Both exams are standardized in the curriculum which candidates are tested on. Both tests include the following subjects; anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, English grammar, reading comprehension and mathematics. Both tests are very similar in content. Some schools require candidates take the HESI, while others require the TEAS. We recommend you find out which one your desired school requires
Which test is harder, HESI A2 or ATI TEAS?
This is one of the most debated topics amongst nursing school candidates. Because both tests are similar in content, we believe they’re equally difficult.
What can I expect inside of the HESI A2 exam?
The HESI A2 exam comprises of 8 different categories, a personality style test and learning style test. The categories are as follows:
- Biology: 25 questions with 25 minutes to answer.
- Chemistry: 25 questions with 25 minutes to answer.
- Physics: 25 questions with 50 minutes to answer.
- Reading comprehension: 47 questions with 60 minutes to answer.
- Vocabulary and General Knowledge: 50 questions with 50 minutes to answer.
- Grammar: 50 questions with 50 minutes to answer.
- Math: 50 questions with 50 minutes to answer.
- Anatomy and Physiology: 25 questions with 25 minutes to answer.
When do I need to take the HESI A2 exam?
We recommend that you check with your school about when it is offered and when they think you should take the exam. You can only take the HESI exam once in a 12 month period so make sure you’re prepared and you take it at the right time for your desired school.
When is the HESI exam offered?
We recommend you check with your school to find out if they offer testing at the school or if they do the testing through a third party company. Most times, testing location and times the test is offered will be listed online. Please speak with your school’s guidance counselor before you decide on the time to take the test to ensure you are taking it at the optimal time for your program.
What should I bring on the day I take my HESI?
You should bring a government issued ID: driver’s license, passport or state issued ID card. Don’t worry about bringing a calculator, one will be provided for you by the assessment center.
How is the HESI A2 exam graded?
Each of the HESI A2 Exam sections is scored separately on a scale of 0 to 100. There isn’t a ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ score for this exam. Each school utilizes the HESI A2 differently – from which tests they ask you to take to what minimum scores they require.
